Ava Shaw Death – 20-year-old Angela Greenwald Corrin Shaw, also known as Ava Shaw of Dixon, Illinois passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago surrounded by family and friends. Ava Shaw who joined Phi Mu at Illinois in Fall 2021 died following a long and brave battle with a heart condition.
She was born on February 4, 2002, in Sterling the daughter of Andy and Angela (Greenwald) Shaw. Ava graduated from Sterling High School in 2020; while there, she participated as a leader and a violinist in the school orchestra. She also participated in student government. She just finished her second year of college with a major in accounting at the University of Illinois. She was the assistant treasurer of the Phi Mu Sorority, which she joined.
Ava also hosted a school-wide Taylor Swift celebration to share her enthusiasm with her fellow students. She had a sharp wit and was always there to cheer people up and offer encouragement. She bravely overcame adversity after adversity throughout her life. She loved pets and children equally, never missing an opportunity to cuddle a baby.
“A group of us are gathering at the church to pray for Ava Shaw at 2:30 pm this afternoon (Tuesday). Please consider joining us or keeping her and her family in your prayers right now,” according to a Milledgeville United Methodist Church statement on Facebook.
According to her obituary page, her survivors include her parents; Andy and Angela Shaw; her sister Sophie Shaw; her grandparents: Jeannie Greenwald of Chadwick, Joe and Marcia Duval of Clinton, IA, and Kathy Shaw of Milledgeville; aunts, uncles, and cousins; her furry companion “Maggie”; and many friends.
