Monday afternoon, election officials in North Carolina were in for a pleasant surprise when not one but two unexpected guests showed up to the meeting they were attending. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was the governor of California from 2003 to 2011, gave election officials in each of the state’s one hundred counties a virtual pep talk to get them revved up for the next election. Schwarzenegger served as governor of California from 2003 until 2011.
According to wreg during the course of the conversation, he referred to them as the “true democracy action heroes” and claimed that he intended to call in to “pump [them] up a little bit.” He said he wanted to call in. Karen Brinson Bell, executive director of the North Carolina Board of Elections, contacted Arnold Schwarzenegger through contacts at the Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy at the University of Southern California in order to “show our election workers how much folks appreciate the work they do to secure our elections and ensure that all eligible voters can cast ballots.” Bell’s goal was to “show our election workers how much folks appreciate the work they do to ensure that all eligible voters can cast ballots.”
During the online meeting, Arnold Schwarzenegger was not the only participant who drew attention to themselves for various reasons. After only a few minutes had gone, his pet donkey participated in the dialogue that was taking place. In point of fact, you should read it as that. Donkey, who resides in Schwarzenegger’s home and belongs to him, was captured on camera looking for a biscuit.
In a more solemn tone, Schwarzenegger brought up the fact that election officials had been the targets of harassment and threats over the course of the past few years. “But nothing should intimidate you because whatever you do, it is such wonderful, wonderful work to make it possible for all of us to vote and to participate in this democracy,” he added. “Whatever you do, it is such wonderful, wonderful work to make it possible for all of us to vote and to participate in this democracy.”
Whatever it is that you do, the fact that you make it possible for all of us to vote and take part in this democracy speaks volumes about the quality of the work that you do. You were told that there is no other work that is more important right now, this coming week, than your employment. “There is no other task that is more necessary right now,”
Election Day in the United States is on November 8, and it is a Tuesday.
