A 42-year-old lady has been taken into jail after allegedly killing her husband by striking him in the head with a hammer before dialing 911 to report the incident. According to a press statement issued by the Arlington police department.
According to the press release, when police arrived at an apartment in the 3200 block of Sweetgum Trail at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, they found the suspect, My Tran, sitting outside. Officers entered the residence and found the woman’s husband, who was 45 years old and laying motionless in the bedroom. They took her into arrest immediately after entering the flat.
It was determined that the individual had passed away at the scene, and the name of the deceased will be made public by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office once the man’s next of kin have been notified. According to the police report, the victim invited Tran to his apartment so that they could sign the divorce documents. According to an affidavit used to get an arrest warrant, Tran, who is fluent in Vietnamese, initially confessed to a 911 dispatcher through an interpreter and then confessed to Arlington police investigators after being questioned by them. According to the warrant, a Vietnamese language expert from the police department functioned as a translator.
According to the affidavit, Tran waived her rights after being read the Miranda warning and consented to talk to a murder detective about what transpired after she was read the warning. According to what the suspect stated, the reason she was so angry with her husband was because of the nature of their relationship, as was written by Detective Spencer Simmons in the affidavit. Tran reportedly told Simmons that she went to her husband’s apartment around four in the morning, took a hammer from her car, walked into the room, and argued with herself whether or not to kill her spouse before striking him in the head.
According to the affidavit, Tran estimated that she hit her husband with the hammer six or seven times while he was sleeping. According to what Spencer wrote, she stated that she was fully aware of her acts and that she accepts responsibility for them. The hammer was found next to the body of the victim, according to the police. The Arlington City Jail is currently holding Tran in custody. Bail has not yet been set. She is being accused of killing another person.
