According to abc7ny.com, Anna Torres, who was identified as the victim, was pronounced dead at the site. As the burst of gunfire rang down 109th Avenue, school children can be seen running in CCTV video obtained by Eyewitness News.
A man matching the shooter’s description, who looked to be clutching a silver revolver in his right hand, was filmed seconds later calmly walking from the home at the corner of 96th Street before getting into the driver’s seat of a black Chevy Traverse.
The suspect drove to the 106th precinct about an hour after the incident, exited his vehicle, and placed a loaded pistol on the sidewalk. He was then taken into arrest by two officers.
The victim is the mother of an NYPD officer, according to police, but they don’t believe the son’s employment with the department had anything to do with the shooting.
