Ann D. Bishara Obituary, Death – Ann D. Bishara, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on April 13, 2022 at her residence. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Josef and Bella (Evarian) Medzadourian; and the beloved wife of the late William Bishara, whom she married on February 8, 1959, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Niagara Falls, NY, and later in St. George Orthodox Church in Miami, FL, while on their honeymoon.
Ann moved to Niagara Falls as a child with her family. She graduated from the former LaSalle High School and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in English from Buffalo State College. Ann also earned three Master’s degrees from Canisius College.
Ann was an English teacher at Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School, where she also served as a Class Advisor to over 1,500 students during her career. She was extremely active in the school’s extra-curricular activities, serving as a Co-Curricular Administrator, President of the Community Boosters, and Director of the Performing and Visual Arts Society (P.A.V.A.S), PEP Club, and the Drama Club.
Ann had an everlasting passion for teaching students and providing guidance in support of their career decisions. Her entire life was dedicated to her family and students. Following her retirement after 35 years from Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School, she continued to teach as a full-time substitute teacher at Niagara Falls Senior High School for the last 15 years up until her passing.
Ann was a longtime member of the St. George’s Orthodox Church along with her late husband, William. She was active in both the Eastern Orthodox Church and Armenian Churches throughout her life. She was also a longtime member of the National Who’s Who Society.
Above all, Ann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, aunt and cousin. She strived to keep her family together to celebrate love, life and connection to God and the community. She will be remembered as a kind and loving person, who encouraged everyone to pursue their dreams no matter what challenges they encountered.
Ann is survived by her children, William J. Bishara, David M. (Susan L.) Bishara and Michael D. (Jennifer) Bishara; five grandchildren, Zachary N. Sheldon, Jonathon W. Bishara, Daniel J. Bishara, Ethan Sheldon Bishara and Abigail Ann Bishara; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Louise (Leonard) Alessi.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 18 from 3-8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9:15 AM followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM in St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment in Riverdale Cemetery.
