Angad Giri Death, 28-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Hit By Car In Pune, Suspect Apprehended: Police Report: Days after the tragic Porsche incident in Pune that claimed the lives of two people, another fatal accident occurred in Pimpri Chinchwad, a suburb of Pune district. A 28-year-old man, Angad Giri, died instantly after being struck by a speeding car while crossing a service road along the Pune-Bangalore highway. The accident took place on May 27 at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the Wakad area of Pimpri Chinchwad. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, providing crucial evidence for the authorities.
According to a press statement from Pimpri Chinchwad Police, Giri was hit by a car traveling at high speed, leading to his immediate death. Police swiftly identified the vehicle and its driver, 20-year-old Vedant Rai. Rai was subsequently arrested on May 28. He is facing charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 304(A) for causing death by negligence, Section 338 for causing grievous hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others, Section 337 for causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others, and Section 270 for malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life.
Additionally, Rai is charged under the Motor Vehicles Act, including sections 184 for dangerous driving and 119/177 for disobeying traffic rules. This incident follows closely on the heels of a devastating accident involving a Porsche in Pune. In that case, a minor driving a luxury car struck and killed two IT professionals who were riding a bike. The victims, identified as Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhia, were both young IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh. This tragic accident occurred on the night of May 19, highlighting a disturbing trend of reckless driving in the region.
