Andy Tham Death; 28Yr Scot Boxer Dies Days After Title Fight Following Motorbike Crashes A Scottish boxer lost his life in a motorcycle accident a few days after a significant championship bout. Last Thursday, May 30 at about 6:50 p.m., in Scotland, a vehicle and Andrew “Andy” Tham’s motorcycle collided. Scotland’s police are looking into the collision. Andy, 28, was taken to the hospital following an accident between his green Kawasaki motorbike and a red Hyundai Tucson vehicle, whereupon he unfortunately lost his life.
In Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, on the B8039 close to Lenziemill Road, there was a collision that happened less than two weeks after he was defeated by George Stewart in their Celtic Featherweight title match. After getting treatment for minor injuries, the driver and occupants of the Hyundai Tucson were transferred to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie and subsequently released.
For around four hours, the road was blocked to enable police crash investigators to conduct their investigations into the collision. Following the event, the boxing world came together in support of Andy, with hundreds posting prayers and well wishes on social media as soon as word leaked out about his injuries.
A single comment read: “Andy Tham our Scottish featherweight champion [was involved in] a motorbike accident in Cumbernauld, please say a prayer.” Devastating news,” another person remarked. “Absolutely devastating news, an absolutely cracking guy,” wrote a third user. Ring in and out.”
