Roscoe Collegiate High School Suicide Investigations – A 9th grader has been hospitalized following an apparent suicide attempt at Roscoe Collegiate High School Monday. According to reports, all Roscoe Collegiate ISD campuses has been closed for Monday after a student attempted to take their own life at the high school. The student involved in this incident has been identified only as a male, and Ninth grader of the Roscoe Collegiate High School which is located in the area of 700 Elm St, Roscoe, TX, according to KTAB/KRBC.

According to reports, the student used a handgun to shoot himself. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene where they located the seriously student. Law enforcement agencies confirmed that this is an isolated incident and no other person was injured. Roscoe CISD and local officials insisted that this was not an attack. All students were sent home shortly after the incident, and Superintendent Guillermo Mancha Jr. said he will begin bringing in counselors tomorrow to help them work through their stress.

According to Sergeant Marc Couch of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the student who shot himself was initially taken to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater before being transferred to Cook Children’s Hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. His condition is given as critical. Further details leading to the incident was immediately disclosed by the investigators.

The student, who was later determined to be named Andrew Pope, was initially taken to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater for treatment of his severe injury. He was later flown to Cooks Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth for more care due to the severity of his condition. Later, on the 26th of April, around one in the morning, Pope passed away in Fort Worth.

UPDATE: A recent information from Pope’s states that no permission from the family was given to the creator of the GoFundMe Account posted earlier. The account was confirmed invalid by the brother, anyone who wishes to assist the family financially at this time is urged to contact them directly.
