Death: A pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run on US 278 near Bluffton – According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Okatie on Monday night. According to Beaufort County Deputy Coroner Debbie Youmans, Andrew LeMaster, 40, of Bluffton, was declared deceased at the scene.
According to islandpacket.com, Master Trooper David Jones of the Highway Patrol, the accident happened on US 278 near Okatie Center Boulevard. The automobile was driving east on US 278 around 8:30 p.m. when it hit the pedestrian and fled.
According to Jones, the car that hit the man is unknown. Police are looking for a car with damage to its front end and perhaps windshield, according to SCHP Trooper Nick Pye on social media.
According to records from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, at least two persons were killed in crashes on Beaufort County roads in 2022, and six on Jasper County highways.
