Andrew Honoka killed – Driver in Fatal North Kona Accident
Andrew Charles Clark Honoka’a, 27, was positively identified as the driver who perished in a single-vehicle incident on Mmalahoa Highway (Highway 190) in North Kona on Thursday, March 31.
According to bigislandnow.com, A gray 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was driving north when it failed to navigate a curve in the road and crossed over the double solid yellow lines, according to police responding to a 9 p.m. call. After hitting a rock embankment, the Toyota Tacoma flipped in the lava field and caught fire. Clark was taken to the Kona Community Hospital, where he was declared dead at 1:16 a.m.
Police believe speed had a role in the accident. To identify the specific cause of death, an autopsy has been requested.
