The local police department is requesting that concerned members of the community stay away from the park. Late on Saturday night, York Police Chief Matthew Murray updated the department’s Facebook page with the information that the child’s family had spent around 15 minutes looking for the 4-year-old before dialing 911.
A little over a dozen officers from the Yakima Police Department, along with members of the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team, Emergency Management, and State Patrol officers, participated in the search. The utilization of drones to assist in the search proved to be fruitless for the investigators. Two hours after the search was initiated, Chief Murray said that detectives had bloodhounds “on the way,” and he encouraged people to remain away from the park and the search area in order to try and avoid confusing any scent trails that might lead rescuers to the missing youngster.
Although while the authorities have asked everyone to remain away from the search area, they also want you to keep an eye out for anything that might be helpful and to phone 911 as soon as possible if you see anything that could be of use. According to a post made by the YPD on Facebook, the missing child, who is just four years old, was last seen wearing blue shorts and a blue shirt with a shark printed on it.
