Death: Police have identified a Northwell employee who was killed in a ‘targeted incident- “Nassau police stated Friday that the deadly shooting of a Northwell Health staffer on Thursday was a “targeted incident,” and that the victim was a 33-year-old woman from Queens.
According to newsday.com, Nassau police Det. Capt. Stephen Fitzpatrick, Amelia Laguerre of St. Albans was shot “in excess of five” times by someone who was waiting for her in the parking garage of a business medical building in North New Hyde Park where she and other employees were taking a break.
She has spent ten years at Northwell Health. Fitzpatrick stated at a news conference at Mineola police headquarters on Friday afternoon that the shooter was still on the loose.
“Based on the crime scene, evidence at the location, and first witness reports,” Fitzpatrick said, “We think this was a targeted incident with no risk to the public.”
