Alison Simmons Death – University of Vermont Aluma Alison Simmons of Burlington has sadly passed away. She died after a deadly car accident on Friday 26th May 2023 at the age of 21. The news of her death was known through a post made on Facebook that says “I will never understand why such a bright light was taken from her beautiful family and friends so soon. I will forever hold my memories of Alison close to my heart”.
Alison Simmons Birth and Education
She was the daughter of Stephen Simmons and Danielle (Laurenzo) Simmons, and she was born on October 11, 2001 in Troy, New York. Alison spent her childhood in Bennington, Vermont, where she also received her education. She had recently received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont, where she studied Animal Science as her primary concentration and Zoology as her secondary concentration. Alison was an avid fan of the great outdoors, and one of her favorite things to do was to go hiking.
She also enjoyed playing softball and field hockey, going on adventures, and spending time with her friends and family. Her affection for animals was incomparable to anyone else’s. All of those who knew her will miss her kind and fearless attitude, as well as her generous and compassionate heart.

Generosity and thoughtfulness were two of the most striking characteristics that Nicole possessed. She went out of her way to assist other people whenever she had the opportunity, going much above what was required of her at the time. Alison is survived by her parents, sister Cassandra Simmons (significant other Chris Cesario), maternal grandparents Teresa Laurenzo and Norine Ryan, paternal grandparents Mark and Patricia Simmons, aunts Diane Leonard (Jim), Kristina Schmidt (John Paul), Marlene Herrington (Steve) and Sabrina Bradt (Dave), uncle Raymond Laurenzo, II (Lisa), as well as several great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be held Friday, June 2nd at 11am at Sacred Heart-St. Francis DeSales Church. Visitation will be held Thursday June 1 from 4 to 7pm at Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main St Bennington, VT 05201.
