Alexis Boland Death – Alexis Boland has been identified by the Peoria County Coroner’s Office as the woman that was shot and killed in Dunlap on Friday 24th April 2023. According to a post made on Facebook by the local coroner’s office, the victim, identified as Alexis Boland, 22, of Princeville, Illinois, was pronounced brain dead at 1:13 p.m. local time on Sunday, April 16, at the OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center.
What happened to Alexis Boland
After authorities in Dunlap responded to a report of shots fired at an apartment in the 12300 block of N. Brentfield Drive at approximately 9:19 a.m. on Friday, Boland was initially sent to the hospital in a severe condition after the shooting. A number of bullet wounds were discovered in Boland when he was located. After the shots were fired, the suspect, who was later identified as Walter J. Artis, 26, ran away from the scene. It was believed that he was armed and dangerous, and the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office had asked for assistance in looking for a black 2010 Nissan Rogue with the plate number DL57433.
According to the police, Artis was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit that began at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday at a petrol station located on Morton Avenue in Morton. It was discovered that he was carrying a firearm on his person. According to a press release, Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins has suggested that the Illinois State Attorney’s office prosecute the defendant with murder in the first degree.

Alexis graduated from Princeville High School in 2019 and was presently attending Illinois Central College. She worked as a dental assistant at Dr. Martin Ruelas clinic in Peoria.
