Al Fleming, a long-time broadcaster in Columbus, passed away on Sunday at the age of 91. Fleming, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, sustained a head injury following an unintentional fall at his residence earlier this month.
Fleming was a well-known face to viewers in the Chattahoochee Valley, having worked for many years at three different television stations in the city of Columbus.
He worked as a news director and anchor at WDAK (now WTVM) from 1966 until 1975, after which he went on to work at WYEA (now WLTZ) and WRBL, among other stations.
He was also the owner of Al Who’s, a nightclub in Columbus, Ohio, at one point.
The date and time of the funeral have not been revealed.
