When a vehicle ploughed their motorcycles in Makati City before dawn Saturday, a rider and his back-rider were killed, and another rider was injured.
According to Nico Waje’s “24 Oras Weekend” broadcast, at around 3 a.m., vehicle driver Martyn Tan, 23, rammed the motorbikes on EDSA-Guadalupe.
The Makati Police Department showed GMA News the video of the incident but refused to allow it to be broadcast.
According to the video, Tan was speeding when he collided with the two motorcycles.
According to witnesses, the driver was enraged after ramming the motorcycles.
One of the witnesses, Rudilyn Mandao, claimed, “Nagwawala siya dyan kaya nagkaganyan yung mukha niya kasi pinadapa ni sir yan.”
(Because he was unruly and ill-tempered, his face was wounded when he was forced to lie prone.)
Tan admitted to speeding during the incident, but said he was not under the influence of alcohol.
“Nandito lang ako sa right lane,” Tan explained, “tapos biglang nabangga yung mga people dito.”
(I was staying in the right lane when the vehicle slammed into the bikes.)
The injured motorcycle rider was brought to Makati Hospital right away.
The impact of the incident seriously damaged the vehicle’s front end, and concrete barriers were also destroyed.
Tan is presently in the Makati Traffic Bureau’s custody, and the event is still being investigated. —GMA News’ LBG
