A Teenager suspected in Deadly Scranton Shooting Charged with Homicide: For the man’s shooting death in Scranton last month, Kenneth Tapia, a rumored gang member, is charged with criminal homicide. Scranton police have accused a 17-year-old suspected street gang member with homicide in relation to a deadly shooting that happened last month.
The charges against Kenneth Tapia have been upgraded to include receiving stolen property, destroying evidence, carrying a firearm, and committing both criminal homicide and non-negligent manslaughter.
Robert Dawson, 32, of Scranton, was shot by Tapia on April 9 after a significant altercation near Weston Field, according to police. Dawson later died in the Geisinger Community Hospital.
He was charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, and rioting as an adult last month. Tapia is incarcerated at the Lackawanna County Prison.
