Scoey Mitchell, the 92-year-old comedian, and actor best known for his appearance in Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park has died. Mitchell died on Saturday, March 19, according to his brother, Billy Mitchell. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he died of kidney failure during his treatment at a healthcare center in Torrance, California.

According to people.com, “He had a very successful and colorful career as an actor, writer, and film director during the 1970s and 1980s,” his brother posted on Facebook.

Mitchell, whose real name is Roscoe Mitchell Jr., was born in Newburgh, New York, on March 12, 1930. He began his career as a stand-up comedian before starring alongside Tracy Reed in the 1970 television adaption of Barefoot in the Park. The obituary has not been released
