Dalzell man, 55, critically injured after industrial accident in Peru

On Monday night, a police chase began in Chesapeake and concluded in an accident in Norfolk. Around 5:10 p.m., it began near Bainbridge Boulevard and Chesapeake Drive, according to a Chesapeake police spokesperson. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it sped away.

The suspect vehicle was identified as a silver Ford Explorer by Chesapeake scanner traffic, and 10 On Your Side saw a damaged silver Ford Explorer on the site.

Officers say it came to a halt around 5:17 p.m. in Norfolk, at the intersection of East Princess Anne Road and Tidewater Drive. The suspect vehicle attempted to run a red light but collided with another vehicle that was occupied.

The vehicle that was hit by the suspect car, which was identified by scanner traffic as a Dodge Charger, was only occupied by a guy. With significant injuries, he was transferred to a local hospital. After the incident, the motorist led cops on a brief foot pursuit before being arrested.

Tidewater Drive northbound was briefly closed at Virginia Beach Boulevard. The identity of the suspect vehicle at the scene has yet to be revealed by the police.

There were four people inside the suspicious vehicle: two guys and two women. Those four people were brought to local hospitals, but their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
