A Man Is Shot Inside A Car On Jacksonville’s Southside and dies at the hospital -JSO: He was “somewhere around 30 years old,” according to the police.
Florida’s Jacksonville The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reports that a guy who was discovered shot inside a car on Jacksonville’s Southside on Sunday night passed away at a nearby hospital.
According to Sergeant Henson of the JSO, patrol officers were called to the 4600 block of Putnam Avenue at 9:35 p.m. in reference to a collision. The man was discovered inside the car “suffering from at least one gunshot wound,” according to Henson, who spoke with First Coast News when they arrived.
Police said that the man was taken to a nearby hospital where he passed away by first responders from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. According to Henson, he was “somewhere around 30 years old.”
Henson told First Coast News, “We think the gunshot wound caused the traffic crash.”
Henson said that JSO’s Homicide Unit investigators and its Crime Scene Unit detectives arrived at the scene to search the area for any potential surveillance footage and witnesses.
“At this time, we do not know the circumstances of this incident or the relationship of those involved,” he stated. “Because of this, the classification of the incident is going to be pending.”
The guy who died was not identified by the police, and there is presently no suspect description. The sheriff’s office said that the State Attorney’s Office, the Medical Examiner’s Office, and other agencies will be involved in the ongoing investigation into the event.
