Officers from the Hagerstown Police Department responded to the Hager House in Hagerstown City Park for a report of a deceased person around 5:50 a.m., at the location of the incident, her death was confirmed by medical personnel.
The woman was reported to have a history of sleeping at the place where the incident occurred, the police said. According to the authorities, it is likely that the woman and the suspect were familiar with one another. Her name will not be made public until her next of kin have been contacted, and only then will it be disclosed.
According to a statement made on a Facebook page affiliated with the Hager House, the historic home was closed to the general public on Friday but reopened as usual on Saturday.
