3 People Killed In Tragic Crash, Witness Recounts Traumatizing Moments Following Fatal Head-On Crash On I-25: In an exclusive interview with 11 News, Jacob Williams recounted his harrowing experience of witnessing a fatal crash early Sunday morning on I-25 and Circle that left three people dead. The crash occurred shortly before 5 a.m. when a driver traveling the wrong way collided head-on with another car. Williams, who was driving nearby, pulled over to assist but soon found himself in the midst of further tragedy.
“Sunday morning started off like any other,” Williams began, “until everything changed right in front of my eyes. I literally watched three people die today, and that’s… I can’t explain that.” Williams was heading to breakfast with a friend when he saw the crash unfold. “I’ve never seen anything like that,” he said. “I was on the phone with 911. My roommate ran across the highway and luckily got to the SUV.” Despite the danger, Williams and his friend attempted to provide aid to the crash victims. “There is a very urgent emergency happening. We were going over there to render aid or to see signs of life,” he explained.
The situation escalated when another car hit a man who had been following Williams across the highway. “A man that was behind me, after I crossed the highway, was following me. He was just a step behind and a car came up and hit him. I don’t want to describe what I was seeing.” Colorado Springs Police confirmed that the good Samaritan, along with both drivers from the wrong-way crash, were killed. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
Reflecting on the incident, Williams emphasized the importance of being cautious and ready to help others. “We help each other. I would hope that someone would come to me in my time of need. That’s what we were trying to do. We just stopped and tried to help.” He added, “Help but be careful. Know your surroundings and just be safe. But help. Always help.” Williams’ account highlights the bravery and compassion that can emerge in the face of tragedy, reminding us all of the critical need for caution and readiness to assist others.
