Three persons were killed in two deadly head-on collisions that occurred just a few miles apart at 5:45 a.m. on State Road 100 just west of County Road 305 and at 6:02 a.m. on State Road 100 near Water Oak Road, according to authorities.
When the car crashed with the front of a SUV on State Road 100 just west of County Road 305, a 22-year-old Bunnell driver sustained minor injuries, while a 26-year-old Gainesville woman who was a passenger wearing a seat belt was killed.
The driver, a 26-year-old Palatka woman, was said to have sustained minor injuries.
The 22-year-old Bunnell man who was driving the SUV also sustained minor injuries. The car was headed east while the SUV was headed west. State Road 100 is just two lanes and there was a double yellow center line in that stretch.
According to reports, a 21-year-old Satsuma man was driving the pickup truck and a 57-year-old Welaka woman was driving the SUV when the pickup truck and SUV they were driving hit head-on at 6:02 a.m., three miles west of that crash.
That crash happened on State Road 100 at Water Oak Road. The man was not wearing a seat belt. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The Flagler County Sheriff office issued a community alert on social media stating that they had shut down State Road 100 W from CR 305 to the Putnam County line due to the crash.
