A fatal two-vehicle crash has claimed the lives of two people on I-235 near Broadway in north Wichita on Wednesday afternoon. Officers have taken it upon themselves to find the cause of the accident .
The pickup was in the westbound lanes of I-235 at the North Broadway Junction when it left the road and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes of traffic, according to Trooper Chad Crittenden, the Kansas Highway Patrol’s resource and public relations officer. The pickup truck collided with a FedEx delivery truck.
The pickup’s driver, a guy in his fifties, was flung from the vehicle. The male was not wearing a seatbelt, according to Trooper Crittenden. He passed away on the spot. After being transferred in serious condition, the FedEx driver died at a local hospital.
Another accident had occurred in south Wichita earlier this year where two men died in a fatal crash. The men died in the crash were 54-year-old David Curtis of Wichita and 45-year-old Ryan Davis of Medicine Lodge.
Curtis was driving south on S 119th St. W., about to make a left turn into westbound K-42, when he was hit by Davis’ vehicle, which was going west on K-42, and both men died.
