Sedgwick County emergency dispatch got calls about potential gunshots between Harry and Lincoln along George Washington Boulevard at 1:30 a.m. Officers searched the area and discovered a tan Ford Fusion that had crashed at Lincoln and George Washington Blvd.
The Wichita Police Department released more details on the fatal crash which occurred in south Wichita, early Monday morning, at about 1:30 a.m, in the 800 block of South Grove, at Lincoln and Grove.
Officers say the two people who died in the crash are, Amill Williams, 21, and Alonzo Montgomery, 20, both of Wichita. “A 22-year-old woman was ejected from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, but she is expected to live.” Williams and Montgomery, two more occupants, were declared dead at the scene,” officials said.
The three people in the Ford Fusion were being followed by an unknown vehicle when the occupants of that vehicle began shooting bullets at the automobile carrying the woman, Williams, and Montgomery, according to the inquiry.
“It appears that none of the victims were hit by the shooting. “At this moment, it’s thought that drugs are involved,” authorities stated.
Sgt. Aaron Moses said officers were called to the scene at 1:30 a.m. Monday for “a couple of separate events” and discovered three victims, one of whom was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Around the same time, police responded to a shots fired complaint in the same neighborhood, but Sgt. Moses said it was too early to tell if the two incidents were connected.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Wichita Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
To investigate the reason of the mishap, police are conducting interviews and performing an accident investigation.
