2 Killed In Motorcycle Vs. SUV Collision In Bridgeport: Police Report: Bridgeport, CT- A devastating collision on Stratford Avenue claimed the lives of two individuals riding a motorcycle Sunday evening, according to authorities. Bridgeport Police reported that the crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of Stratford Avenue, near the intersection with Edwin Street. The victims were identified as Carlos Jean Parra Rodriguez, 32, of Stratford, who was operating the motorcycle, and Deivi Suarez, 21, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, who was a passenger on the bike. Both were pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital shortly after the incident.
Emergency responders found Rodriguez and Suarez on the ground at the scene, where they appeared seriously injured and unresponsive. Despite efforts to save them, they succumbed to their injuries after being transported by American Medical Response to Bridgeport Hospital Medical Center. According to Bridgeport Police Sergeant Darryl Wilson, preliminary investigations suggest that a 2012 black Chevy Equinox traveling south on Bishop Avenue attempted to turn left onto Stratford Avenue.
In doing so, the SUV struck a 2004 black Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle traveling east on Stratford Avenue. The impact caused the motorcycle to collide with a parked 2014 white Dodge Ram 1500. “The crash scene was chaotic and tragic,” said Sgt. Wilson. “Our officers and emergency personnel responded quickly, but unfortunately, the injuries sustained by the motorcycle riders were fatal.” A 15-year-old passenger from Bridgeport who was in the SUV suffered minor injuries, but no other injuries were reported.
The Bridgeport Police Serious Crash Team, along with the Southern Fairfield County Traffic Unit, are currently investigating the incident. The driver of the Equinox, identified as an 18-year-old Bridgeport resident, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
