18-Years-Old Motorcycle Rider, killed In College Road/SW 17th Street intersection In Ocala Crash: Ocala, FL- A tragic accident early Sunday morning claimed the life of an 18-year-old motorcycle rider in Ocala. The crash occurred at the intersection of College Road (State Road 200) and Southwest 17th Street around 1:37 a.m., according to the Ocala Police Department.
In a Facebook post, the police stated that the motorcycle was traveling east on College Road when it rode through the intersection. Simultaneously, an Audi, headed west on College Road, was attempting a left turn on an unprotected green light, which means there was no green arrow to give the Audi driver the right-of-way. “When turning, the Audi car turned into the path of travel of the motorcycle. The front of the motorcycle struck the right front corner of the Audi car.
Speed did not appear to be a factor,” the OPD wrote in the post. The motorcycle rider, identified only as an 18-year-old man from Dunnellon, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Audi showed no signs of impairment, according to police. No further information was provided about the Audi driver. The Ocala Police Department continues to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the authorities.
