According to a news statement from the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, a person was flown to the hospital by helicopter on Saturday afternoon shortly after 5 p.m. following a significant car accident on Walnut Blvd. at Bougainvilla Drive in Brentwood.

Officers say one automobile and a tree on the boulevard’s center divider were both destroyed, as the vehicle collided with the tree.
We gathered that the accident victim was being treated on the scene before he was taken by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. The treatment was due to the severity of his injuries.
The accident is being investigated.
